Pros

  • High quality, good range of accessories, easy-to-handle twist speed control

Cons

  • Heavier than some other models, whisk needs its own ‘gearbox’ attached, a little noisy on high-speed settings

Bosch ErgoMixx Style summary

After testing the Bosch ErgoMixx hand blender and its useful attachments, we began to think our usual, full-sized food processor may never get put to use again. This clever little blender can do so much more than just the excellent smoothies and mayonnaise it made for our test – it’s a fabulous help for so many different recipes and we found ourselves reaching for it time and time again.

The main unit is a good, balanced weight and easy to handle, with stainless-steel detail and a useful ‘dial’ control to vary the speed. This meant one-handed blending was possible and we could use the other hand to hold the beaker. The mayonnaise and smoothie recipes we tried were easy to make with this trusty tool, resulting in a great finished texture to both.

What we really loved, however, was the little 1250ml food processor bowl attachment with blades for chopping, shredding and slicing. With its dinky ergonomic handle, it was easy to clean out after use, although we had to touch the blades carefully to pop them out of their housing. Preparing salads, soups, shredding veg and crushing ice were all a breeze.

The four-pronged main blending tool whizzed through anything we threw at it, and no matter what we were prepping, there was a minimum of splashing or having to clean out food caught up in the housing afterwards. We could pop attachments and bowls in the dishwasher and we didn’t feel like we had to fiddle around in awkward-to-clean corners

The domed head of this blender has a generous size, so it could easily handle larger chunks of veg for purée and made unpeeled – and uncut – boiled potatoes into creamy mash in not much time at all. In all, the dishes we tried had a minimum of clean-up in terms of spillage, with the head drawing ingredients up to the blade with hardly any splashing.

Bosch ErgoMixx Style verdict

We’d definitely recommend this quieter model for anyone who’d love a food processor but just doesn’t have the room, or perhaps singles and couples who don’t have to go overboard with the volume of their ingredients. It’s much more than a blender, that’s for sure.
